One Life Lost EP:

I only chanced upon the band when they were featured under Starbucks Entertainment music label, Hear Music, with their release of "Off the Clock Vol.:1" CD. This is a various artist album and the concept behind it is to help fellow Starbucks partners make their music heard. So the first ever "Partner Music Contest" was held last year. And this is the result - 15 music artists/bands selected from North America.

To hear a low quality sampling of the album, check out my "side note" section to the right ---------------------->

There is an on-going vote participation right now in Starbucks Hear Music web site to award the winning artist in another upcoming compilation CD. Listen to these artists and give them a chance to be heard.

Now back to this particular band...

One Life Lost started way back in May 2004 under the name "No Other Name" with lead singer Shell and her guitar. As fate would have it, the band slowly formed with current line up - Simeon (keys/piano), Tim (bass), Aaron (guitar/back ground vocals) and Mike (drums).

The music featured in the Starbucks compilation is "You and Me". But all four tracks in the EP release is every bit as good. In "Savior" lead singer Michelle reminded me of Dolores O'Riordan in her former Cranberries days. But of course this is a stretch. My point is that they are that powerful and as inspirational is singing for a cause.

The songs were mixed beautifully with great balance. I only wish it was finished in higher fidelity for at times it sounds like some instruments were clipped on the upper end.

Anyway, give them a try. The EP can be purchased directly on their MySpace web site. It's only USD6.00 plus USD1.50 shipping/handling and transaction is done via PayPal.

They have their first music video for "You and Me" up on the same site. Hopefully as their song receives more recognition around North America they can rework on it with a bigger budget. But as an indie filmmaker myself, it already shows how much hard work was poured into this current one.

Check them out and show some love.
